workshops for early career scientists
Every summer semester, the TUC funding advisory service offers an information event about “Funding programs for young scientists”. For the target group of advanced doctoral students and postdocs, European and national application options for young scientists who have already completed their doctorate are presented with regard to their own project management, in particular to finance their own position.
There is also an online offer on "Basics of applying - from the project idea to the submitted research proposal", which explains the general principles and structures of an application as well as offers from the relevant TUC service facilities that accompany the application. The primary target group of this event are scientific employees (doctoral students and post-docs) who are involved in preparing applications.
For current information, please check the online platform "Qualification and Career" in the summer semester or contact the PostDoc-Office.
Start-up funding for young researchers
Support for PostDocs to achieve scientific independence
TU Clausthal provides start-up funding to support early career researchers in developing academic independence and their own research profile. The funds provide a basis for independently preparing an application for publicly funded financing for an open-topic research project.
In the first quarter of 2025, there will be a call for proposals for €300,000 for a period of three years. More details will follow shortly.

Workshops for established postdocs and professors
In the winter semester 2023/24, a workshop on "Confidently dealing with power in the university environment" was held for the first time for established PostDOcs and newly appointed professors. This was very well evaluated afterwards, so that a follow-up event will be offered in the winter semester 2024/25. The trainer, Dr. Karen Rassmussen, describes this workshop on"More power competence in the university environment through neuroscientific leadership with fun and vision" as follows
"Dealing with power in a university environment is complex and challenging - you experience this every day. In this workshop, you will experience how you can use power consciously and effectively in order to act not only more successfully but also more sustainably in complex management structures."
The workshop will take place on Thursday, 13.03.2025, 09-16h in seminar room 119 in the computer center (building B5, Erzstraße 18). Registrations will be accepted until 27.02.2025 via the registration form will be accepted.
Coaching for postdocs and new appointees
Career coaching for postdocs
Career coaching supports you in determining your professional position and goals and in sharpening your profile by reflecting on your own personality.
Participants choose a coach from our list of coaches depending on their professional focus, personal inclination or the main topic to be addressed. A flat rate is available for participants, which allows them to take advantage of individual coaching sessions with a coach of their choice. The number of possible coaching sessions may vary slightly depending on the choice of coach and the respective hourly rate.
The next round of career coaching starts in September 2025 and usually lasts 4-6 months. Applications can be submitted to the Graduate Academy until 30.09.2025.
Coaching for newly appointed professors
Newly appointed professors at the TUC are offered individual coaching as part of the onboarding process, during which they can work specifically on their own skills profile.
The individual coaching helps you to determine your professional position and goals and to sharpen your individual profile by reflecting on your own personality. With a coach of your choice, you can reflect on your career and personal development and work on an area of competence of your choice in order to sharpen your own academic profile.
Applications are possible on an ongoing basis, please contact the Graduate Academy.
Welcoming new appointments
At irregular intervals, the Presidential Board invites all newly appointed professors to a welcome event . The event is all about arriving at TU Clausthal, getting to know each other and networking.
The next welcome event for newly appointed professors is expected to take place in the winter semester 2025/26 and will combine a presentation of the new professors with a "market of opportunities" from administration and central facilities as well as a snack and networking opportunities.
